Elefor Massage Gun Review – An Amazon Darling But There Are Better Alternatives For Less Too!

Welcome to this Elefor massage gun review. This is yet another massage gun that we found on Amazon. It’s a real budget option, coming in at close to $40.

We couldn’t find a website for it; it probably only exists on Amazon. We’re not entirely sure where it comes from, but it’s made in China like most of the other massage guns out there.

Now, we’re not expecting this little guy to work miracles, but we’re always up for trying out new gadgets. After all, you never know when you’ll stumble upon a hidden gem.

Unfortunately, we have to say that we weren’t blown away by the Elefor massage gun. It’s a bit lackluster compared to some of the other options out there.

But don’t worry, we’ve got your back (literally). We’ve rounded up some alternative massage guns that we think are worth checking out.

So, stick around and let’s find the perfect massage gun for your aching muscles!

First Impressions

First off, the carrying case is definitely a good addition. It’s always handy to have a place to store your massage gun, especially if you’re constantly on the go.

We also appreciate that the basic manual is included, which briefly describes the attachments. It’s pretty basic, but it’s enough to get you started.

It’s nice that the Elefor massager includes a carrying case, especially considering its price point.

When it comes to the device itself, we have to say that it’s a good size. It’s not too big and not too small, which is perfect for getting those hard-to-reach spots. The design is somewhat similar to the Medcursor or Aerlang, both of which we’ve reviewed before.

Compared to more premium massage guns, it does look a bit cheap, but it’s definitely not the worst we’ve seen. There’s plastic everywhere and unfortunately, there’s no rubber on the handle. However, the single color and somewhat modern-looking design are a plus.

Controls

The LCD display is pretty basic and familiar.

On the left side, you have the plus and minus buttons to change speeds, and on the right, there’s a battery charge indicator.

The only downside is that there are no physical buttons – just touch icons. Personally, we’re not huge fans of this because it can get a bit laggy over time, and there’s no click feedback.

The on/off switch is located at the bottom, which is easy to access and use. Lastly, Elefor massage gun has a USB-C port, which is a definite plus (also located at the bottom).

Overall

The Elefor massage gun definitely has its pros and cons, but it’s not a bad option if you’re on a budget.

Size, Weight, and Ergonomics

First off, it measures 9.05″ x 8.66″ x 1.2″, which we think is a good size. It’s relatively compact for a full-size gun, which makes it easy to take with you on the go.

However, when it comes to ergonomics, we have to say that the Elefor massage gun falls short. The T-shaped design tends to fatigue the hand compared to slanted handles, like what you’ll find with Ekrin devices. T-shaped guns also tend to appear large and somewhat generic.

Classic t-shape design.

Plus, the lack of rubber on the handle means that you’re holding onto plastic for too long, which can get slippery if you have sweaty hands.

But, at least the weight helps. It’s only about 1.5 lbs, which is pretty light. A light device is easy to maneuver, and even though it has the T-shape that we’re not a fan of, the weight lightens things up.

Overall

The Elefor massage gun has its pros and cons when it comes to size, weight, and ergonomics. It’s a decent size, but the T-shaped design and lack of rubber on the handle can make it uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time. But, on the bright side, it’s pretty lightweight, which makes it easy to use.

Attachments

Let’s talk about the attachments that come with the Elefor massage gun. On first glance, we were wowed by the fact that there are 10 attachments included. But, we know this trick – many attachments tend to feel the same.

For example, there are two bullet heads and three flat heads (two of them feel almost identical). And, they’re all hard-plastic – not a single soft or cushioned one in sight. The ball head is the softest, but even that isn’t really all that soft – it’s just not a hard-plastic one (it’s made of foam).

Elefor massage gun attachments – 10 hard-plastic heads included.

But, there are a few attachments that are worth mentioning. The fork head is good for targeting the muscles near your spine, while the bullet head is great for trigger points1. The flat head is good for larger muscle groups2, and there’s a U-shaped head that’s good for calves, biceps, and other medium-sized muscles (maybe even for carpal tunnel massage).

Overall

We have to say that while the Elefor massage gun does come with a decent variety of attachments, many of them feel very similar. And, they’re all hard-plastic, which isn’t ideal.

But, at least there are a few standout attachments that can be really useful, depending on your needs.

Performance

If you’re still with us so far, you must’ve noticed that even though this isn’t the best gun out there, it has a few things that aren’t so bad.

But here comes the bummer – the Elefor massage gun fails miserably in its performance.

Here we check for amplitude, stall force, and percussions per minute. Let’s find out what this one has, shall we?

Amplitude

Let’s talk about the Elefor massage gun’s amplitude. Amplitude refers to how far the device’s head moves back and forth as it revs, and the Elefor is advertised as having a 12mm amplitude.

However, in reality, it’s more like an 8-9mm amplitude device, which unfortunately means that the hits are very shallow.

But, all is not lost at this point. Vibrations can still be effective for deep tissue if the device is able to rev very fast (usually above 3200 rpm).

And, if the stall force is there, the device can be pressed against the muscle without slowing down, so it can effectively deliver a reasonably powerful treatment.

How much stall force can you expect from the Elefor massage gun? We’ll find out soon, for now let’s see if it can rev fast enough.

Percussions Per Minute

Elefor massage gun promises 1200-3200rpm, in reality, it delivers less – only about 1700-2900rpm according to our tests.

And, while it does have 20 speeds, we’re not big fans of having that many. It’s just another thing to wow customers, but cycling through all those speeds can be frustrating, especially since there’s lots of tapping to change speeds.

When you combine this with the shallow amplitude we talked about earlier, don’t expect Theragun-like performance.

The Elefor massage gun is as basic as it can be so far. It can probably help with a sore neck or shoulder, or be used on a surface-level to warm up soft tissues3 and get the blood going.

But, it’s definitely not a deep tissue massage gun. Both the amplitude and intensity are too low to make it a worthy choice for serious athletes or people with chronic pain.

Stall Force

Unfortunately, there’s no good news here. The stall force (a massage gun’s ability to withstand pressure) is low, as expected, and even on the first speed, it slows down with the slightest pressure or contact with the skin.

While the further speeds are slightly better, they’re still not enough. It could maybe have 15-20lbs. of stall force. Even though it revs up to 2900rpm, it slows down a lot when pressure is exerted.

So, once again, the Elefor massage gun falls short when it comes to delivering deep hits or deep-tissue frequency. The amplitude is low, and the stall force isn’t enough to handle pressure, which means you won’t get the relief you’re looking for.

If you’re in need of a device that can handle pressure and deliver a deep tissue massage, you may want to consider more powerful massage guns .

What does this kind of performance mean?

The Elefor massage gun is a basic device that delivers below-average performance. While it may be cheap, you really do get what you pay for.

The amplitude is low, which means you won’t get deep hits, and even though it can rev up to 2900rpm, it slows down significantly when pressure is exerted, so you won’t get the deep-tissue frequency you need either.

It’s as basic as it can be, and while it may be tempting to go for a cheaper option, there are other cheap massage guns out there that offer much better specs.

Noise

For its price, it’s okay in the beginning, but it does get noisier over time – which is typical for a cheaper gun. We measured it, and it falls in the range of 60dB to 70dB.

The rattling noise increases as the gaskets on the attachments wear out and the motor parts get loose, which means it gets louder when used on the body with contact.

However, we’ve seen worse – for example, the Fitrx is a good example of a massage gun that’s much noisier.

Battery

Let’s talk about the battery of the Elefor massage gun. The 2000 mAh battery isn’t a lot of juice, especially when you compare it to other options on the market.

For example, the Sportneer D9 Elite, one of the alternatives we’ve listed, has a 3350 mAh battery, which is over a third bigger. The Urikar Pro 2, another alternative, has a 2600 mAh battery.

So, don’t expect more than 1 hour of use, maybe 2 if used on low speeds (however, we feel that this device stalls too easily to be used on low speeds for an extended period).

If you’re looking for a better battery, take a look at the alternatives below.

The best feature of the Elefor massage gun is the USB-C charging, which is convenient.

Overall

However, from our experience, we don’t expect it to last for long, and long-term customer service could be an issue since the company only seems to exist on Amazon.

But, we’ve read other reviews (you can check them here) suggesting they’ve been responsive thus far.

Price and Warranty

What about the price and warranty of the Elefor massage gun?

It’s a very cheap device, at the time of publishing this review it’s priced at around $40 on Amazon. Check out the current price here.

While one might say “you get what you pay for,” we know that there are devices in the $50-$70 range that perform much better. So, is it worth it? Not really, if you’re looking for a deep tissue massage.

Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the warranty for this device, which is typical for cheaper brands.

Best Alternatives – These Offer a Better Bang for the Buck

Urikar Pro 2

Urikar Pro 2

If you’re in the market for a massage gun and considering the Elefor, we highly recommend taking a look at the Urikar Pro 2.

It’s one of the better deals available right now, and for good reason.

The amplitude is serious at 12mm, which is almost double that of the Elefor. The stall force, although still the weakest part of the device, is noticeably better than that of the Elefor.

Urikar Pro 2 is better in every way.

But the best feature of the Urikar Pro 2 is its heated massage therapy, thanks to a special ceramic head that heats up to 117°F (47°C).

Additionally, it comes with seven varied non-heated attachments, bringing the total to eight. There are also three dynamic modes where percussions change automatically, and six manual speeds to choose from.

The adjustable handle can also rotate 180 degrees to allow for two opposite positions.

With the URIKAR02 code, you will only pay $62.9, which is a bit more expensive than the Elefor but still an excellent value for what you get. Buy it here.

Plus, it comes with a one-year warranty, which is much better than the unknown warranty of the Elefor. Overall, the Urikar Pro 2 is a much better option if you want a powerful massage gun that delivers deep hits and has extra features like heated massage therapy.

Renpho R3 Mini

Renpho R3 Mini

Another great alternative to the Elefor percussion massager is the Renpho R3 Mini.

This massage gun is better made, with an oval handle and lots of rubber for a comfortable grip. Renpho is a proven brand, so you know you’re getting a quality product.

Plus, it’s even smaller than the Elefor, it’s actually a hybrid between a mini and a full-size gun.

Renpho R3 mini massage gun.

The specs are also better, with a 9mm stroke length and up to 3000rpm. The stall force is better too, at about 25lbs.

The battery is also an improvement, with a 2500mAh capacity. It’s quieter too, with no rattling, and USB-C enabled for convenient charging.

Plus, it comes with a one-year warranty, and at only $69.99, it’s an excellent value for what you get.

Overall, the Renpho R3 Mini is a much better option than the Elefor if you want a high-quality massage gun with better specs and features.

Sportneer D9 Elite

Sportneer Elite D9

Here’s another massage gun in a budget category. The Sportneer Elite D9 is a fantastic option to consider.

This device is a step up in quality from the Elefor, with a partly metal cover that feels more substantial and less plasticky. The ergonomics are also much better, with an angled handle that is rubberized and comfortable to hold.

Sportneer Elite D9 massage gun.

The stall force is about 30lbs, which is much better than the Elefor. While there’s no heated mode, the device is much faster-revving, with speeds up to 3200rpm – which we have verified.

The stroke length is also better, at over 10mm. The Sportneer Elite D9 is super quiet compared to the Elefor, with a smooth sound and no rattling, measuring between 40 to 60 dB.

It also comes with six attachments, a carrying case, and a better warranty of one year.

It’s priced at $129.99, but buying directly from sportneer.com gets you the best deal at 50% off, making it $64.99.

It’s a much better option – cheaper and stronger!

Elefor Massage Gun Review Summary

Before we end our Elefor massage gun review, here’s what to know;

The Elefor massage gun is a budget device that doesn’t stand out with anything special. It’s a basic, entry-level device that may be enough for some basic jobs, but not for deep tissue massages.

Its long-term performance is questionable, but the price may justify it for some people.

While you’re free to buy it if you want, we’d recommend considering one of the alternatives we’ve discussed instead.

It’s probably a passable option for those on a tight budget, but it’s worth spending a little more for a device with better performance and features.
